My mum is in the hospital recovering from surgery. I spoke to her last night; she sounded weak and said she was bored. Poor mum! I suggested to my sisters about getting a magician or someone whose hobby is card tricks to do a low key performance. My sis actually found a professional one! Aiming for a pound of rhubarb for an upside down cake for sister's birthday party.  Not a fan of Martha Stewart but hard to resist the crumble bottom in the recipe. It is always more satisfying whipping a batch of something from lingering "leftovers" in the kitchen.  I wanted to get rid of the medicinal tasting vanilla bean yoghurt.  With it, went other lingering pantry items - parmesan, light cheddar, spring onions, basil, sunflower seeds, sesame seeds.  The only exception is thyme from my sister's balcony garden.

(1) Impromptu trekking trip can be more fun - you spend less time planning & more time discovering (others might call it being lost). I quickly chose destinations for us to hike to (Sherbrook Falls & the town Sassafras). Unexpectedly one of the trails was a good heart-pumping upslope trek.
